Program Notes

Sometimes, composers feel the need to just write music. Not necessairly for any rhyme or reason, but maybe it's just something that sounds well to the ear and needs to be put on paper. That was exactly the case for this piece. It is based in c# minor with a transition into the ending key of e minor. This piece in particular seems to sound a little bit darker, hence the title, Memorie Dolorse, which translates from Italian to "painful memories". It is both lyrically and technically challenging for all three bassoonists.
